Bentley Draws 1-1 With Wilmington University in Season Opener

WILMINGTON, Del. – Senior Liliana Silva (North Grafton, Mass./Grafton) scored in the 54th minute in the season opening game for the Bentley women's soccer team on Friday as the Falcons played to a 1-1 draw with Wilmington.

After scoreless first half and nine minutes of the second half, Silva put the Falcons in front with an unassisted goal.

That looked to be enough to secure the win as Bentley led for the next 29 minutes-plus, until Wilmington's Emilie Larsen drew the home side level with a goal, with Emily Navarrete on the assist.

Falcons sophomore keeper Claire Ewen (Arlington, Mass./Arlington) made four saves in the first half, and freshman Holly DiPalo (Merick, N.Y./Calhoun) made her NCAA debut in the second half and made two saves.

Shots on goal ended 7-4 in Wilmington's favor.

Bentley will next take on Molloy on Sunday in Delaware. Kick off for that match is set for 12:00 PM.
