Bentley Creates Late Chances but Falls to No. 6 SNHU, 1-0

MANCHESTER, N.H. – No. 6 ranked Southern New Hampshire continued its unbeaten season with a 1-0 victory over Bentley on Wednesday night.

The Penmen improved to 12-0-1 overall and 10-0 in the NE10. The Falcons dropped to 5-5-3 overall and 5-4-1 in NE10 matches.

An 11th minute goal by midfielder Allyson Patterson stood up the rest of the match. The Falcons did though put pressure on for the tying goal in the final minutes.

Senior Dana Goulet (Wilmington, Mass./Wilmington) was on the receiving end of a ball to the edge of the six-yard box. Goulet took a shot from close range but SNHU keeper Z Kaplan made a kick save to keep the Penmen in front in the 87th minute.

That led to a corner kick for Bentley, and then a second corner kick where Bentley nearly scored. Senior Rebecca Nguyen (Dudley, Mass./Shepherd Hill) had a shot that was headed towards the open net, only for an SNHU defender to clear the ball of the line at the last moment.

Though SNHU ended the game with a 15-8 edge in total shots, shots on goal were just 6-5 for the Penmen.

Falcons keeper Kat Hassapis (North Reading, Mass./North Reading) finished the match with five saves.

Bentley will look to get back in the win column when they host Le Moyne on Saturday at 11:00 am.
