Bentley Drops Close Contest on the Road to Pace, 3-2

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Pace's Allison Carr scored the tiebreaking goal in the 69th minute as the Setters came away with a tight 3-2 victory over the Bentley University women's soccer team on Saturday night.

Bentley twice answered goals by Pace with goals of their own, but Carr's goal was the eventual winner on this night.

Still, the Falcons end the weekend in third place in the Northeast-10 Conference standings with a .688 winning percentage. Their record moves to 5-2-1 in conference play for 16 points, and 5-3-3 overall.

Pace improved to 2-4-3 in the NE10 and 4-4-3 overall.

The Setters jumped out to an early lead behind a goal by Aryanna Ortiz in the 11th minute. That was the first of her two goals on the night.

Bentley though responded just under five minutes later. Junior Brooke Jones (Duxbury, Mass./Duxbury) tied the score in the 16th minute, with senior Amanda Andriano (Fort Salonga, N.Y./St. Anthony's) on the assist.

Ortiz scored again for Pace in the 36th minute, and Pace went into halftime ahead 2-1.

In the 2nd half Bentley had another answer for Pace. This time McGrath scored, unassisted in the 59th minute, to tie the score 2-2.

But just under 10 minutes later, Carr's unassisted goal was the final lead change of the night.

Bentley outshot Pace 15-11 overall and 12-6 in shots on goal. But Pace goalkeeper Perri Anderson had a big night with 10 saves.

The Falcons will look to bounce back in their next match, will be Senior Night under the lights on Friday against American International. Kickoff will be at 6:30 pm on the football field.
