Bentley and Wilmington Play to 1-1 Draw; Goulet Scores for Bentley

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University and Wilmington University played to a 1-1 draw after 110 minutes on Wednesday afternoon on the Bentley soccer field. Senior Dana Goulet (Wilmington, Mass./Wilmington) scored the goal for the Falcons.

Goulet scored in the 7th minute to give Bentley an early lead. The goal was answered by Wilmington's Anastasia Daikos in the 50th minute to tie the game 1-1. From there neither team could score again, though the Falcons had the best chances in overtime and outshot their opponents 8-1 in overtime.

Bentley's goal came after junior Jayne Conry (Bolton, Mass./Nashoba) won the ball in the defensive half and center back Jillian Hendriksen (Pembroke, Mass./Pembroke) played a long ball into Bentley's half. Brooke Jones (Duxbury, Mass./Duxbury) got a touch on the ball and passed it along to Goulet, who broke in free on net.

Goulet's initial shot on goal was saved by Wilmington's Emily Camp, but Goulet pounced on the rebound and beat Camp to the loose ball for the goal to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead.

In the overtime period, Bentley nearly won it in the 106th minute when a shot from close range by Sydney O'Connor (New Fairfield, Conn./New Fairfield) was pushed over the bar by Camp.

Jones had a shot on goal in the 2nd OT saved by Camp, and Goulet and Liliana Silva (North Grafton, Mass./North Grafton) had shots saved in the first OT.

After playing its first two games at home, Bentley is heads on the road for its next game on Friday at Holy Family.
