Ford to Captain 2015 Bentley Women’s Soccer Squad

WALTHAM, Mass. – Senior midfielder Sam Ford (Rockville Centre, N.Y./South Side) will captain the 2015 Bentley women's soccer team, head coach Lauren Lukis announced.

"Sam is responsible and well respected by the team and coaching staff; a team player who puts the team before herself, on and off the field," said Lukis. "On the field she is tough and competitive. After overcoming an ACL injury her sophomore year, she has shown true grit and determination to get back on the field. She has definite qualities of a great role model and competitor."

After playing in three games as a sophomore in 2013 before suffering her injury, Ford returned last season to play in 13 matches and start nine. An excellent student as well, Ford is majoring in actuarial science with a minor in finance. She has also served as the women's soccer team's SAAC representative.

Bentley's 25-player squad, which features 15 returnees and 10 newcomers, will hold its first official practice of the season on Wednesday at 5:30 pm. That's in preparation for the team's first matches of the season, which are Friday, Sept. 4 and Sunday, Sept. 6 against Molloy and Dowling, respectively, as part of the Molloy Kickoff Tournament.
