Rochel Makes 19 Saves as #18 Bentley Tops #22 Assumption 10-8

WORCESTER, Mass. – Freshman goalie Lauren Rochel made 19 saves to help #18 Bentley to a 10-8 win at #22 Assumption on Wednesday.

Bentley led 8-7 going into the 4th quarter and goals by Courtney Dermody and Amanda Davis and a shutdown defense closed out the win.

Dermody scored 1:55 into the final quarter to give the Falcons a 9-7 lead. The Greyhounds received a goal from Jenna Joseph on a free-position shot at the 11:50 mark, but that was their final goal of the night.

Davis netted a man-up at 10:12 to give the Falcons a 10-8 advantage with her third goal of the game.

After that point Rochel saved all three of Assumption's shots on goal the rest of the way, while Assumption turned the ball over on four other possessions.

The first quarter featured nine goals, with Bentley leading 6-3 after the first 15 minutes. They closed the quarter on a 3-0 run with goals by Maeve Johnson, Nat Dutkewych and Johnson again.

Caroline Affolter opened the second quarter with a goal 32 seconds in for a 7-3 lead. Assumption scored twice in the final 2:54 to cut Bentley's lead to 7-5 at the break.

Davis scored Bentley's only goal of the 3rd quarter, but they still led 9-7 going into the fourth.

The Falcons improved to 3-4 on the season and 1-1 NE10. They will be back in action on Saturday at home against AIC.
