Johnson Scores Five but No. 3 West Chester Hangs On Over No. 14 Bentley, 14-11

WALTHAM, Mass. – No. 14 ranked Bentley outscored No. 3 West Chester 4-1 in the fourth quarter but couldn't quite complete the comeback as the Golden Rams held on for a 14-11 victory on Thursday afternoon.

Trailing 13-7 after the third quarter, Bentley scored the first two goals of the fourth. Caroline Affolter and Johnson scored to cut the deficit to 13-9 with 7:31 remaining.

West Chester scored the next goal at the 6:01 mark on a free position. But the Falcons responded with two quick goals to make it a 14-11 game.

Caitlin Keenan scored off an assist from Amanda Davis from behind the cage and Johnson scored on a free position with 3:54 left.

West Chester though won the ensuing draw control and milked over a minute off the clock before Bentley got the ball back. They came up empty on a couple of free positions in the final minute and time ran out before they could score again.

The game was tied 4-4 after the opening 15 minutes as the teams traded 3-0 runs. West Chester though outscored Bentely 8-2 in the second quarter, including a 5-0 run to end the half to lead 12-6 at halftime.

Johnson scored her five goals on all five of her shots on goal. Keenan had two goals on three shots on target.

West Chester was led offensively by Hannah Stanislawczyk with four goals.

Bentley is next in action on March 14 when they visit Saint Leo.
