No. 15 Bentley Falls to No. 19 New Haven 15-11 in Regular Season Finale; Will Host St. Anselm in NE10 Playoffs

WEST HAVEN, Conn. – In the final regular season game of the season, No. 15 ranked Bentley fell to No. 19 New Haven 15-11 on the road. The Falcons will be the No. 4 seed in the NE10 playoffs and will host the No. 5 seed St. Anselm on Tuesday at 7:00 PM.

Maeve Johnson (Duxbury, Mass./Duxbury) and Kenzie Lupton (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua) each scored four goals to lead the Bentley attack, while Emma Jadul (Reading, Mass./Reading) had two caused turnovers on the defensive side.

After an even first quarter that ended 4-4, Bentley took the lead on a goal by Johnson 1:52 into the second quarter.

The Chargers though went on a 5-0 run over the rest of the quarter to lead 9-5 at halftime. Two of the goals during the run came from freshman attacker Marielle Colalillo, who had a game-high five goals.

Bentley scored the first goal of the second half when Johnson scored at the 11:20 mark to cut the deficit to 9-6. But the Chargers netted the final two goals of a low scoring quarter from Kyra Sparks at 5:37 and Colalillo at 5:05 as they led 11-6 going into the fourth.

Trailing 13-6 after four-plus minutes of the fourth, Bentley went on a 5-1 run over the next six minutes to close to within 14-11. But after Johnson scored on a free-position with 3:57 remaining, Bentley was unable to score again.

Bentley finished the regular season with a 10-6 overall record and 8-4 in the NE10.
