No. 15 Bentley Downs No. 17 Saint Anselm 14-10; Johnson Hits 100 Career Points

WALTHAM, Mass. – No. 15 Bentley downed No. 17 Saint Anselm 14-10 on Wednesday night as junior attacker Maeve Johnson (Duxbury, Mass./Duxbury) recorded her 100th career point in the win.

The Falcons improved to 8-3 in the competitive NE10 Conference with the win. They will go into the final day of the regular season on Saturday with a one game lead over 7-4 Saint Anselm and New Haven for a home playoff game in the first round of the NE10 playoffs.

The Falcons visit the Chargers on Saturday at 1:00 PM.

Johnson hit the 100 career points milestone when she scored the game's first goal 32 seconds into the contest. She scored again at the 13:32 mark, and a goal by Kenzie Lupton (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua) at 11:57 staked the Falcons to an early 3-0 lead.

The Falcons led 6-1 after the first quarter and never trailed in the game. The closest the Hawks got was after they scored the first two goals of the 4th quarter to get to within 13-10 with 7:56 remaining.

But Lupton scored on a free-position shot on Bentley's next possession, her game-high fourth goal, to take a 14-10 lead with 6:26 left.

Falcons goalie Ashlee Wargo (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand) made two saves on free-position shots the rest of the way and Lupton caused a turnover on another Hawks possession as the Falcons closed out the win.

Wargo, the reigning Division II Defensive Player of the Week, made 11 saves on the night. Senior Sydney Lynch (Bedford, N.H./Bedford) had three caused turnovers and six draw controls.
