No. 17 Bentley Rolls Past St. Michael’s 17-5

 

WALTHAM, Mass. – No. 17 ranked Bentley rolled to a 17-5 victory over Saint Michael's on Wednesday night to improve to 6-2 in the Northeast-10.

The Falcons improved to 8-4 overall.

The team saw nine different players score and 12 different players notch at least one point. Sophomore Amanda Davis (Saunderstown, R.I./La Salle) had four goals for a game-high in both categories. Senior Sydney Lynch (Bedford, N.H./Bedford) had a quartet of threes, in goals, draw controls, ground balls and caused turnovers.

Bentley got off to a fast start and led 5-0 after the opening seven-plus minutes of the game. Senior Kenzie Lupton (Canandaigua, N.Y.) had two of the goals during the opening run. It was 7-0 at the end of the quarter as Davis and Steph McAuliffe (Natick, Mass./Natick) added goals.

The Falcons extended their lead to 14-0 at halftime. Lynch and Davis had two goals in the second quarter and senior Caroline Aufiero (Fairfield, Conn./Sacred Heart) notched a goal as well.

Bentley kept the shutout going past the eight-minute mark of the third quarter until St. Michael's Catie Murphy found the back of the cage at the 7:58 mark.

Defensively, Falcons goalie Ashlee Wargo (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand) made seven saves for the win. Lynch had a game-high three caused turnovers and Katherine Hesslink (Shelburne, Vt./Canterbury), Maeve Johnson (Duxbury, Mass./Duxbury), Caroline Affolter (Newburyport, Mass./Central Catholic) and Abby Jowett (East Hampstead, N.H./Pinkerton) had CTs as well.

The win was the 50th at Bentley for head coach Taylor Bastien.
