Dutkewych Scores in OT to Give No. 14 Bentley 14-13 Win over No. 17 Assumption

WALTHAM, Mass. – Freshman Natalia Dutkewych (Harvard, Mass./Bromfield) scored 3:33 into overtime to give No. 14 ranked Bentley a 14-13 victory over No. 17 Assumption on Wednesday night.

The win is the 6th in a row for the Falcons and third straight in overtime. Each of those overtime wins has come against a ranked squad.

Dutkewych's goal ended a back-and-forth game that saw five ties. Bentley trailed by as much as 8-4 in the 2nd quarter and 12-9 after the 3rd quarter.

Bentley though turned it on in the 4th quarter and outscored Assumption 4-1. Goals by Amanda Davis (Saunderstown, R.I./La Salle) at 7:57 and Maeve Johnson (Duxbury, Mass./Duxbury) at 6:05 tied the score at 13-13 after the Greyhounds led 13-11.

The teams traded possessions in the first half of overtime with no goals. Johnson won the draw control for Bentley for the second half of the first overtime. The ball was worked around to Dutkewych at the top. She dodged an Assumption defender to her right as she drove in on the cage and beat the Greyhounds goalie with a low shot for the goal.

Johnson and Davis each had four goals to lead the offense. Caroline Affolter (Newburyport, Mass./Central Catholic) had a game-high eight draw controls.

Bentley will go for a seventh straight win next Wednesday when they host Mercy.
