SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – No. 22 ranked Bentley won its Northeast-10 Conference opener 15-6 over American International on the road on Wednesday.
It was a wire-to-wire victory for the Falcons who led 5-1 after the 1st quarter, 8-2 at halftime and 14-3 after the 3rd quarter.
Junior Maeve Johnson (Duxbury, Mass./Duxbury) and sophomore Amanda Davis (Saunderstown, R.I./La Salle) both had hat tricks. Senior Kenzie Lupton (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canadaigua), freshman Betsy Norko (North Attleboro, Mass./Bishop Feehan) and junior Caroline Affolter (Newburyport, Mass./Central Catholic) each had two goals.
Senior Sydney Lynch (Bedford, N.H./Bedford) had a game-high five draw controls.
Norko scored the first two goals of the game for her first two career NCAA goals to give Bentley an early 2-0 lead.
Bentley scored three straight woman up goals from the 2nd quarter into the 3rd quarter, with goals by Affolter, Davis and Johnson.
The Falcons' longest run of the game was 8-0, which spanned over 25 minutes of game time from 2nd to the 3rd quarter.
Sophomore goalie Ashlee Wargo (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand) earned the win in her first career start.
The Falcons will next play their home opener on Saturday when they host Southern Connecticut for a noon start.
