Bresler, Glavin and McCarthy Named to IWLCA All-East Region Teams

Waltham, Mass. – Eliza Bresler (Newton, Mass./Newton North), Julia Glavin (Ipswich, Mass./Ipswich) and Cara McCarthy (Salem, N.H./Central Catholic) from the Bentley University women's lacrosse team have been named All-East Region by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Association.

Bresler and Glavin were both voted first team All-Region and McCarthy was voted second team All-Region.

All three student-athletes were key members of a Bentley team that won its first NE10 Championship, with a 9-8 victory over Adelphi on May 9, and helped the program earn its first bid to the NCAA Tournament. They were also regular season champions of the NE10 Northeast Division.

Bresler, a graduate student goalie, is a first team All-Region selection for the second time in her career. The first time was for her junior season in 2019. She currently leads Division II in both save percentage at .599, and in total saves with 169. She also boasts the 7th lowest goals against average at 7.76. Her goalkeeping record for the season finished at 12-3.

Bresler's lists of accolades is long for this season alone. It includes first team All-America by USA Lacrosse Magazine, the NE10 Northeast Division Goalie of the Year, first team All-NE10 and the Most Outstanding Player of the NE10 Championship.

An attacker, Glavin finished the 2021 season with a team high 45 goals and 58 points. That marks the third time in her career that she led the team in both goals and points.

Glavin was instrumental in Bentley's run to the NE10 title, as she led the team with an 8-5-13 scoring line in three games. She was named to the NE10 All-Tournament team, to go along with being named second team All-Conference for the regular season.

This is the second time Glavin has been named All-Region in her career, with a second team selection for her sophomore season in 2019 the first time. She wrapped up her senior year with 151 career goals (3rd in program history) and 190 points (6th).

McCarthy led the Falcons in draw controls this season with 49. She added 19 goals, 11 ground balls and four caused turnovers from her midfield position.

She was named to the NE10 All-Tournament team after she scored five goals and had a team best 14 draw controls in the three games.

McCarthy was named third team All-Conference for 2021, the second time in her career she earned that distinction.

The Falcons finished the season with a 12-3 record and were selected to the NCAA Tournament as the No. 3 seed in the East Region.
