Preview: Bentley Hosts Saint Anselm in NE10 Northeast Divisional Finals Thursday Night

Waltham, Mass. – The Bentley University women's lacrosse team will host Saint Anselm on Thursday night at 7:00 pm in the Northeast Division finals of the NE10 women's lacrosse championships. The winner will go on to the NE10 championship game on Sunday.

Bentley is the No. 1 seed in the Northeast and they advanced to the division finals with a dramatic 10-9 overtime victory over the No. 4 seed Assumption on Monday. Saint Anselm is the No. 2 seed in the division and they advanced with a 17-14 victory over the No. 3 seed Franklin Pierce on Monday.

Bentley will go into the game ranked 14th in this week's IWLCA poll. Saint Anselm is ranked 21st.

The winner of this game will face the winner of the Southwest Division final, either the No. 1 seed Le Moyne or the No. 3 seed Adelphi. Le Moyne dispatched the No. 4 seed New Haven 17-5 and Adelphi upended the No. 2 seed Pace 18-12.

Thursday's game will be the third meeting of the season between Bentley and Saint Anselm. If it is anything like the previous two meetings, it will be another close game. Both teams won their home game during the regular season. Saint Anselm won up in Manchester 12-11 on April 13.

Bentley trailed 12-9 with under three minutes to go but pulled to within 12-11 with 1:26 left after two straight goals by Cara McCarthy. After the Hawks won the draw control, Bentley forced a turnover to gain the final possession of regulation with 1:00 left on the clock. They could not convert though, and Saint Anselm hung on for the one goal win.

A week later the team's met in Waltham and Bentley came away 9-7 winners. They led by as much as 7-2 in the 2nd half and withstood the Hawks' comeback attempt to seal the win. Julia Glavin scored four goals and Eliza Bresler made eight saves in the win.

Bentley will be looking to make the NE10 finals for the third time in program history and for the first time since 2007. Saint Anselm has never been to the finals.
