No. 14 Bentley Tops No. 16 Assumption 10-7 for 3rd Straight Win

Worcester, Mass. – No. 14 ranked Bentley won its 3rd straight game and avenged its only loss of the season thus far with a 10-7 win on the road over Assumption on Saturday.

The Falcons improved to 5-1 on the season, and evened the season series with Assumption 1-1 after the Greyhounds won the first game back on March 29.

Senior attacker Julia Glavin (Ipswich, Mass./Ipswich) scored three goals, and added two assists for a game high five points.

Glavin finished the game with 126 career goals, which moved her into 6th place on the program all-time list for career goals.

Graduate student goalie Eliza Bresler (Newton, Mass./Newton North) made 11 saves and senior Dana Lewandowski (Franklin, Mass./Franklin) led the team with two caused turnovers.

A pair of freshmen also came up big in this game for Bentley. Caroline Affolter (Newburyport, Mass./Central Catholic) had a hat trick, and Courtney Dermody (Bedford, N.H./Bedford) scored two goals.

It was an 8-7 lead for Bentley about halfway through the 2nd period after the Greyhounds opened it with three of the first four goals.

But Bentley scored two goals in quick succession. Affolter first scored at the 13:39 mark, with Glavin on the assist, junior Kayli Keenan (Pelham, N.H./Bishop Guertin) then scored just 26 seconds later to put Bentley ahead 10-7.

Bentley then slammed the door after that, as Bresler came up with four saves over the final 13 minutes to close out the victory.

The Falcons will look to keep their winning streak going on Tuesday night when they are scheduled to visit Saint Anselm.
