No. 17 Bentley Flies Past Southern New Hampshire, 21-10

Waltham, Mass. – The 17th ranked Bentley University women's lacrosse team improved to 2-0 on the season with a 21-10 victory over Southern New Hampshire on Saturday afternoon in the team's home opener.

Senior Julia Glavin (Ipswich, Mass./Ipswich) tied a career high with seven goals, and senior Sandrine Heller (Weggis, Switzerland) set a career high with seven points, with five assists and two goals.

The Falcons led 12-7 after a high scoring first half where Glavin scored five of her goals and Heller notched five assists.

With the game tied 3-3 early on, the Falcons used a 5-0 run during a three minute span to take an 8-3 lead with 14:26 left in the 1st half. By that point Glavin had three goals and Heller added a goal to go along with three assists at that point.

The Falcons held a 10-7 lead with 2:00 minutes left in the half, then scored twice in the final 50 seconds to take a 12-7 lead into the break. The goals came from Caroline Affolter (Newburyport, Mass./Central Catholic) and Katherine Hesslink (Shelburne, Vt./Canterbury Prep).

Bentley then started the second half on fire. Three goals came in the first four minutes-plus, two from junior Glenna Gies (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand), to take a 15-7 lead. After an SNHU goal on a free-position shot, Bentley scored two more goals, from Glavin and senior Cara McCarthy (Salem, N.H./Central Catholic), to expand the lead to 17-8 at the 22:25 mark.

Heller added a goal at the 11:36 mark for her 7th point of the day. Affolter, Katie Arce (Celebration, Fla./Celebration) and Megan Lynch (Wilton, Conn./Wilton) found the back of the net as well as the Falcons secured the 21-10 victory to improve to 2-0 on the season.

The Falcons will look to keep their unbeaten start going on Monday when they are set to host Assumption at 3:00 PM.
