No. 16 Women’s Lacrosse Opens Season With 12-8 Victory over No. 15 New Haven

West Haven, Conn. – The No. 16 ranked Bentley University women's lacrosse team opened its 2021 season with a 12-8 victory over No. 15 ranked New Haven on Thursday afternoon.

Senior attacker Julia Glavin (Ipswich, Mass./Ipswich) scored four goals and junior Christine Fish (Slingerlands, N.Y./Guilderland) notched two goals to lead Bentley's offense.

Graduate student goalie Eliza Bresler (Newton, Mass./Newton North) made 12 saves, while senior Dana Lewandowski (Franklin, Mass./Franklin) had two caused turnovers.

It was all Bentley in the first half as they led 6-1 after the opening 30 minutes. They raced to a 3-0 lead after less than six minutes played on goals by Fish, sophomore Kenzie Lupton (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua) and Glavin.

The Falcons then closed the half strong with two goals in the final 1:55, with Fish and Glavin the goal scorers.

New Haven used a 3-0 run early in the 2nd half to make it a 7-4 game at the 23:00 minute mark, but that is as close as they would get the rest of the game.

Bentley responded with a 3-0 run of its own to push the lead back to 10-4 just before the halfway point of the 2nd.  Glavin, Glenna Gies (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand) and freshman Caroline Affolter (Newburyport, Mass./Central Catholic) had the goals during the run.

Bentley, now 1-0 on the season, is next scheduled to play on Saturday at home against Southern New Hampshire. Game time is set for 12:00 pm and can be seen on NE10 Now.
