No. 18 Bentley Runs Past Saint Anselm 14-7

MANCHESTER, N.H. – 18th ranked Bentley picked up a 14-7 road win over Northeast-10 rival Saint Anselm on Wednesday afternoon as senior Erin O'Connor (Longmeadow, Mass./Longmeadow) led the offense with four goals.

Bentley outscored the Hawks 8-3 in the first half and had a 4-0 run in the 2nd half as part of the victory, their first in a Northeast-10 game this season. Meredith Hart (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) and Hannah Lindgren (Southborough, Mass./Algonquin) each had hat tricks to support the offensive effort, while goalie Lauren Ochs (Rochester, N.Y./Irondequoit) made 11 saves.

Bentley jumped out to a 3-1 lead after 13-plus minutes as Hart scored two of her three goals to get the team started. The damage though was done late in the half. With Bentley holding a 5-3 lead with under six minutes remaining after two straight Saint Anselm goals, the Falcons scored the final three goals of the half. Kathleen Gillespie (Topsfield, Mass./Masconomet), O'Connor and Taylor Lunden (Agawam, Mass./Agawam) had the goals.

O'Connor started the 2nd half with a goal as Bentley led 9-3. The closest the Hawks would get in the 2nd half was 10-5 with 17:24 remaining, but after that goal by the home team's Erica Mattila, Bentley ran off four unanswered goals to put the game away. O'Connor, Kelsey Howard (Scarborough, Maine/Scarborough), Lindgren and Hart had the goals during the run as Bentley led 14-5 with under five minutes to go.

With the win, the Falcons improve to 3-5 on the season overall and 1-3 in NE-10 games, while Saint Anselm drops to 3-3 overall and 2-3 in conference.
