SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Behind five goals from sophomore attack Kathleen Conese and four from junior attack Kelly Condon, No. 1 Le Moyne defeated Bentley 12-2 in the Northeast-10 Women's Lacrosse semifinals on Saturday in Syracuse.
The top-seed in the tournament, the Dolphins (16-1) advance to the finals where they will face the Adelphi/Stonehill winner from later today. Bentley's season comes to a close at 13-6
After Le Moyne's Brenna Bauer scored the game's first goal 1:11 into the first half, junior Cori Geiger (Agawam, Mass./Agawam) scored her 38th of the year for the Falcons to tie the score. Bauer scored again at the 21:36 mark for a 2-1 lead, and the Dolphins also received two goals from Condon and one from Conese to lead 5-1 at halftime.
Conese scored the first two goals of the second half inside the first seven minutes to push their lead to 7-1. But midfielder Carolyn Kynoch (Ashland, Mass./Ashland) got one back for Bentley with 16:46 left to cut the deficit to five. However, Le Moyne responded with two quick goals from Conese and Condon 19 seconds apart to go up 9-2.
Condon and Conese each scored again as the half wound down to put the game away.
