Geiger Scores 4 as #10 Bentley Clinches NE-10 Playoff Berth

MANCHESTER, N.H. - Powered by four goals from junior Cori Geiger (Agawam, Mass./Agawam HS), Bentley University clinched a berth in the Northeast-10 Conference women's lacrosse tournament with a 12-9 win over Saint Anselm College on Tuesday evening in a matchup of two nationally ranked squads at Grappone Stadium.

The Falcons (11-5, 8-3 NE-10), ranked 10th in this week's IWLCA Division II poll, held a 9-5 lead in the second half before the 13th-ranked Hawks (8-7, 6-5) reeled off four straight goals to even the score at 9-9 with six minutes remaining. After that point, the Bentley defense buckled down, allowing only one more shot, which was stopped by sophomore Ally Dorman (Simsbury, Conn./Simsbury HS) as part of an eight-save performance.

Geiger scored the go-ahead goal with 3:45 to go, then netted another with 2:33 on the clock before senior Megan Wiggins (Acton, Mass./Acton-Boxborough HS) scored her third goal of the game to account for the final tally. Sophomores Carolyn Kynoch (Ashland, Mass./Ashland HS) and Jackie Brown (Brookfield, Conn./Brookfield HS) each scored twice for the Falcons.

The Hawks were led by their rookies with freshman Marissa Daly (Marshfield, Mass.) netting five goals and classmate Sarah Doherty (Franklin, Mass.) scoring a pair. Sophomore Katherine Amato (Bedford) stopped 12 shots between the pipes for Saint Anselm.

The Falcons close out the regular season on Thursday, hosting Franklin Pierce in Waltham, Mass.
