Balanced Attack Helps No. 8 Bentley Down St. Michael’s 13-7

COLCHESTER, Vt. – Nine different players found the back of the net, four of them twice, as No. 8 Bentley posted a 13-7 win at Saint Michael's Wednesday afternoon. The Falcons improve to 6-4 overall and 4-2 in the Northeast-10.

Bentley led from start to finish, jumping out to a 4-0 lead after 12 minutes, and led by as much as six on two occasions late in the game.

But in between Saint Michael's kept it close, getting to within three goals in the second half. That came after sophomore Caroline Casper scored at the 23:39 mark to make the score 8-5. But the Falcons scored four of the next five goals to push their lead to 12-6 with 6:25 remaining.

Three of those goals during the decisive run came in a quick four minute spurt, starting with sophomore Chelsea Larivee 's (Amherst, N.H./Souhegan) goal at 22:52. Just over a minute later sophomore Carolyn Kynoch (Ashland, Mass./Ashland) scored her second of the game to make the score 10-5.

After Saint Michael's Melissa Jaskiewicz and Bentley's Dani Petrunich (Westborough, Mass./Westborough) traded goals, neither team scored for another 12-plus minutes. But that drought ended when freshman Amy Ernst (Long Valley, N.J./West Morris Central) scored Bentley's 12th goal.

Sophomore goalie Ally Dorman (Simsbury, Conn./Simsbury) made eight saves to earn her sixth victory of the season.

Bentley will look to make it two straight when they host No. 7 New Haven on Saturday at noon.
