Sullivan Scores Five in 17-8 Win for No. 6 Stonehill over No. 8 Bentley

WALTHAM, Mass. – On a chilly early spring night, junior attack Heather Sullivan scored five goals to lead No. 6 Stonehill to a 17-8 win over No. 8 Bentley in Northeast-10 women's lacrosse.

The Skyhawks only outshot Bentley 31-27, but junior goalie Rebecca Moore made 12 saves for the visitors. Stonehill improves to 6-1 overall and 4-0 in the NE-10, while the Falcons' three-game winning streak comes to an end, dropping their record to 4-3 and 2-1.

Stonehill scored the first three goals of the game, before senior Megan Wiggins (Acton, Mass./Acton-Boxborough) got Bentley on the board at the 20:03 mark. Stonehill though scored the next four goals, with two coming from Sullivan, to put them up 7-1 with 12:56 to go in the half. Freshman Amy Ernst (Long Valley, N.J./West Morris Central) got the next goal for Bentley with 7:19 left, but the Skyhawks netted the last two of the half to lead 9-2 at the break.

A man-down goal by sophomore Carolyn Kynoch (Ashland, Mass./Ashland) got Bentley to within 11-4 at the 18:46 mark of the second half. That was the last goal scored for more than eight minutes, but a goal by junior Kayla Green started a key 3-0 run for the Skyhawks that put them up 14-4 with under 10 minutes to play. Sullivan had the next two goals after Green scored.

Sophomore Chelsea Larivee (Amherst, N.H./Souhegan) had team-high three points for Bentley on two goals and an assist.

The Falcons will look to rebound on Saturday at home against AIC.
