No. 11 Bentley Notches Third Straight Win, 13-8 over No. 13 Dowling

BROOKHAVEN, N.Y. – The 11th-ranked Bentley University women's lacrosse team won its third straight game, and second over a ranked team in three days, with a 13-8 victory over No. 13 Dowling on Sunday afternoon in non-conference action.

Three players had hat tricks in the win; senior Megan Wiggins (Acton, Mass./Acton-Boxborough), junior Cori Geiger (Agawam, Mass./Agawam) and sophomore Jackie Brown (Brookfield, Conn./Brookfield). Sophomore goalie Ally Dorman (Simsbury, Conn./Simsbury) stopped 15 shots for her third win of the season.

The Falcons led 7-6 at halftime, and received goals from Geiger and Carolyn Kynoch (Ashland, Mass./Ashland) in the first 5:34 of the second half to lead 9-6.

Bentley though endured a lengthy scoring drought of more than 15 minutes after Kynoch's goal. Fortunately, its defense hung tough and allowed just two goals in that span, coming from junior Alicia Fuchs in a man-up situation, and freshman Jackie Anderson, one of her four on the afternoon, to make the score 9-8 for the Falcons with under 10 minutes to play.

The Falcons though finished strong, scoring the last four goals of the game. Brown netted two straight in a span of three minutes to give them an 11-8 advantage with under seven minutes remaining. Geiger found the back of the net for a third time at the 5:30 mark, and Wiggins closed the scoring with 44 seconds left.

Bentley improves to 4-2 with the victory, while the Golden Lions drop to 2-3. Bentley is returns to Northeast-10 play in its next game, which is Tuesday night at home against No. 7 Stonehill.
