Larivee, Bastian Help No. 12 Bentley Open with 16-3 Win at Southern Connecticut

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Sophomore middle Chelsea  Larivee (Amherst, N.H./Souhegan HS) scored three times and  junior Taylor Bastien (North Kingstown, R.I./North Kingstown HS) delivered five assists as Bentley University, ranked 12th in Division II, opened its season with a 16-3 win at Southern Connecticut State in Northeast-10 Conference women's lacrosse Tuesday night.

Larivee, who also had an assist, and Bastien, who scored once for a six-point night, were two of ten Falcons to put the ball in the net.  Scoring twice were juniors Cori Geiger (Agawam, Mass./Agawam HS) and Dovlyn Curtis (Mendham,N.J./West Morris Mendham HS), senior Megan Wiggins (Acton, Mass./Acton-Boxborough Reg. HS) and sophomore Jackie Brown (Brookfield, Conn./Brookfield HS).

Goals by Curtis and Brown 18 seconds apart in the third minute staked the Falcons to an early 2-0 lead, and Bentley had scored six unanswered goals by the midpoint of the opening half.  Sophomore Bianca Sacco (Haverhill, Mass./Central Catholic HS) and Larivee both found the back of the cage in the final minute of the half, sending the Falcons into the break riding a commanding 10-1 lead.

Senior Kate Poznick (Fitchburg, Mass./St. Bernard's HS) and sophomore Ally Dorman (Simsbury, Conn./Simsbury HS) shared responsibilities in goal for the Falcons, with each making four saves and Poznick, the starter, credited with the victory.

Bentley had more shots in the first half (22) than the 0-1 Owls had all night, and finished with a 41-13 advantage.

Bentley is back on the road Friday afternoon with a 3 pm contest at number one-ranked Le Moyne College.
