Five Bentley Women’s Basketball Players Receive All-Northeast-10 Recognition

WALTHAM, Mass. – The usual starting lineup for the Bentley University women's basketball team this season has consisted of graduate student Autumn Ceppi (Bedford/Dana Hall School), senior guard Kari Brekke (Appleton, Wis./Appleton North HS), junior guard Ella Thompson (Greenwood, Ind./Center Grove HS), sophomore guard Maggie Whitmore (South Portland, Maine/South Portland HS) and freshman guard Amanda Kabantu (Portland, Maine/Portland HS).

All five were recognized today when the Northeast-10 Conference announced its All-Conference awards.

Ceppi was voted to the All-Northeast-10 first team, Thompson was a member of the second team, Brekke earned third-team accolades for the second time, and both Kabantu and Whitmore were included on the All-Rookie Team.

Ceppi, a six-foot forward who came to Bentley this year as a graduate transfer from Bucknell University, averages 14.1 points, 7.3 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.8 steals and 0.8 blocks and leads the team in each of those categories. She's had three double-doubles in the last four games and has 125 career games of collegiate experience. Last year, she was voted to the Patriot League All-Defensive Team.

Thompson, the 2020 Northeast-10 Rookie of the Year, follows Ceppi in the scoring column with a 12.4 average. Her 57 three-pointers are the third most in the conference and she's made multiple triples 18 times. She's also second on the team in assists and third in defensive rebounds.

Brekke, in her second Bentley season, is averaging 11.2 points and 3.7 rebounds. She's the only player in the conference shooting over .400 from deep with her .463 accuracy rate one of the best in program history. Since Feb. 1, she has knocked down 26 of 50 three-pointers, a success rate of 52 percent.

Whitmore had a career-game Monday night in the conference quarterfinals, 16 points and 12 rebounds, in a win over Franklin Pierce and is averaging 8.8 points and 6.2 rebounds. She's second on the team in both rebounds and steals, and has netted 11.1 points a game over the last 14.

Kabantu contributes 7.2 points and 3.6 rebounds a game while making 51 percent of her field goal attempts. Bentley is 6-1 this season when she has scored in doubles, including Monday against Franklin Pierce in the NE10 quarters when she had 11.

Bentley, 17-8 overall, will play at Le Moyne College Thursday night in the Northeast-10 semis.
