Bentley Concludes Homestand with Key NE10 Game vs. New Haven

WALTHAM, Mass. – For the third time in five days, the Bentley University women's basketball team will be in action in the Dana Center Monday night. Providing the opposition for the 5:30 pm game will be the University of New Haven.

For those who can't attend, it will be streamed on the NE10 NOW Digital Network.

Following Saturday's 81-68 loss to Southern New Hampshire, the Falcons are even with SNHU at the top of the Northeast-10 Northeast Division standings, both with 11-4 conference records. Should the two remained tied through the end of the regular season, the Penmen would earn the top seed by virtue of two wins over Bentley.

Each team has four games remaining before the conference championships begin Feb. 25. After facing New Haven, coach C White's Falcons will play at Franklin Pierce and Assumption before concluding the regular season Feb. 22 at home against Saint Anselm.

Southern New Hampshire's remaining schedule includes Stonehill at home and road trips to Southwest Division-leading Le Moyne, Franklin Pierce and Saint Michael's.

Bentley will be looking to return to form after giving up a season-high 81 points to SNHU. The Penmen scored 44 in the paint, sank 21 of 24 free throws and controlled the boards (46-35) against a Falcon team that leads the conference in rebound margin.

Following back-to-back 20-point performances, graduate guard Autumn Ceppi (Bedford/Dana Hall School) has taken over the team-leading in scoring. Her average is up to 13.6 and she also leads the Falcons in rebounds (7.0), blocks (16) and steals (32).

She's followed on the scoring list by the backcourt tandem of Ella Thompson (Greenwood, Ind./Center Grove HS) and Kari Brekke (Appleton, Wis./Appleton North HS). Thompson (13.5 PPG) has knocked down 47 from deep and Brekke (10.3) has made 28 with an accuracy rate of .424. This month, she's 10 of 21 from deep.

New Haven will come into the Dana Center at 8-13 overall and 3-12 in the NE10. The Chargers are 3-3 over their last six games and are coming off a 49-36 win over American International Saturday. They held the Yellow Jackets to just 13 of 51 shooting, including only 4 of 19 from beyond the arc.

Like Bentley, New Haven has three double-figure scorers. Senior guard Camryn DeRose scores 13.6 a game, grad student Brie Pergola follows at 11.3 and junior Aurora Deshaies is one of three NE10 players who average a double-double. The Chargers are 7-8 when Pergola plays and were 1-6 in the ones she missed.

Bentley is 29-5 all-time against New Haven but came up short the last time the two teams met, scoring only 40 in a 13-point loss in January 2020.

Bentley's fourth game in seven games will be Wednesday when the Falcons are in Worcester to take on Assumption.
