Bentley Women’s Basketball Begins Difficult Week with Tuesday Home Game against Le Moyne

WALTHAM, Mass. – Following an 80-70 win over Southern Connecticut State Saturday, the Bentley University women's basketball team will be back in action Tuesday night when the Falcons host Le Moyne College. Game time is set for 5:30 pm and a webcast will be available on the NE10 NOW Digital Network for those who can't attend.

It's a difficult two-game homestand for coach C White's Falcons, who were originally scheduled to face New Haven Tuesday. Following a shuffling of the schedule, Bentley will play the top two teams in the Northeast-10's Southwest Division this week. After taking on Le Moyne (7-2, 6-1 NE10), Bentley will meet up with Pace University (12-2, 6-1 NE10) on Saturday afternoon.

The Falcons begin the week at 7-3 overall, 5-1 conference and 4-0 home after winning four of their last five games. They never trailed at Southern Connecticut Saturday while shooting .519 overall and .471 from beyond the three-point stripe.

Against the Owls, junior guard Ella Thompson (Greenwood, Ind./Center Grove HS) and graduate forward Autumn Ceppi (Bedford/ Dana Hall School) combined 43 points on 15-of-27 shooting. Thompson drained five three-pointers while matching her career scoring best of 25 points. Ceppi, on 7-of-11 shooting, provided 18 point, five rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Those two are 1-2 on the team in scoring for the season with Thompson averaging 15.1 points and Ceppi following at 13.2. Ceppi, in her last four games, has averaged 17 points, 8.5 rebounds and three assists, and shot .540 from the floor.

Also in doubles is senior guard Kari Brekke (Appleton, Wis./Appleton North HS), with an 11.1 average. She's third in the conference in three-point shooting with a .409 accuracy rate.

Sophomore guard Maggie Whitmore (South Portland, Maine/South Portland HS), the NE10 Rookie of the Week after a career-high 10 rebounds against Southern, is second to Ceppi in rebounds, averaging 6.7 to go along with 7.5 points a game.

Le Moyne won its third straight on Saturday, 70-59 over Stonehill, with the victory the Dolphins' sixth of the season in as many games on its home court. On the road, they are just 1-2 thus far this season.

Six-foot-two senior Emma Brinker is having a strong season for the Dolphins, averaging 16.7 points, 10.6 rebounds and 1.6 blocks. She's led the team in scoring four times, with a high of 30 against Saint Rose, but has been quiet of late, with only 5 baskets in 23 attempts in the last two games.

Senior guard Erin Fouracre and junior guard Saeeda Abdul-Aziz follow with both scoring 12.1 points a game. Fouracre is among the conference leaders in assists (41) and Abdul-Aziz has an NE10-best 26 three-pointers.

Bentley leads the all-time series with Le Moyne, 30-7, but the Dolphins have had the edge of late, winning the last four meetings including two in the conference championships.
