Bentley Drops Exhibition Game to Providence, 64-46

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Sophomore guard Maggie Whitmore (South Portland, Maine/South Portland) finished with 13 points, seven rebounds and two steals to pace Bentley University during a 64-46 loss to Division I Providence College in a women's basketball exhibition game Thursday night at Alumni Hall.

The Falcons never got the offense going in the first half, scoring only 13 points while falling behind 39-13.  They were only 6 of 25 shooting, including just 1 of 13 from three.

The Bentley defense picked it up as the game progressed with the Friars shooting 62.5% in the first quarter, 41% in the second, 38% in the third and 23% in the fourth.

Bentley won the second half, 33-25, with nine of Whitmore's points coming after the break.

Whitmore had the best shooting night for the Falcons, 6 of 11, while the rest of the team struggled through an 11-of-41 night.

Junior guard Ella Thompson (Greenwood, Ind./Center Grove HS) was next on the scoring list for Bentley with eight and graduate forward Autumn Ceppi (Bedford, Mass./Dana Hall HS) added seven. Thompson also had five rebounds and four assists.

Bentley will open the season next Friday night at home against Carlow College.
