Bentley Listed No. 11 Nationally Preseason by Women’s Division II Bulletin

WALTHAM, Mass. – Women's Division II Bulletin unveiled its preseason top 25 recently with the Bentley University Falcons listed at number 11.

Bentley is coming off a 28-4 season that featured winning the Northeast-10 Conference championship, coach Barbara Stevens' 1,000th career win and a first-round win in the NCAA Division II East Regional tournament.

Stevens, who'll enter her 33rd Bentley season with 1,011 victories, lost five of her top nine scorers to graduation but returns several key players, including senior center Victoria Lux (Arundel, Maine/Thornton Academy). She was tabbed a first-team All-Northeast-10 performer last year when she averaged 13.4 points and 9.3 rebounds.

Also among the returnees is senior guard Megan Lewis (Sevenoaks, England), who was chosen as the Most Outstanding Player in the Northeast-10 championship tournament last March. The versatile six-footer stepped up from five points a game during the regular season to 16.6 in the postseason.

National runner-up Ashland University is forecast for number one after returning three starters from last year's 36-1 squad. Defending national champion Central Missouri is listed second and the top five also includes Carson-Newman, Indiana (Pa.) and Drury. The top ten also includes defending regional champion Stonehill in sixth.

Bentley will open its season Nov. 9-10 with games against Concordia (N.Y.) and Georgian Court at Merrimack College.
