Lewis Named Northeast-10 Spalding Rookie of the Week for the 3rd Time

WALTHAM, Mass. – After an outstanding game Saturday at the University of New Haven, Bentley University freshman guard Megan Lewis (Sevenoaks, England) has been named the Spalding Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week in the Northeast-10 Conference for the second straight week and the third time overall.

In an 84-72 win, Lewis scored a career-high 20 points and also contributed six assists, three rebounds, a block and a steal in 37 turnover-free minutes as the Falcons extended their winning streak to six. She made five of nine shots overall, buried two of three from deep, hit eight of ten free throws and recorded a +/- of +18.

It was the third straight outstanding game for the six-footer who prepped at the New Hampton School in New Hampshire. During that stretch, she's shot 55 percent overall and 58 percent from three while averaging 16 points, six assists, 4.7 rebounds, four steals and 1.3 blocks.

For the season, Lewis has given the Falcons (12-2, 6-2 NE-10) 8.1 points, 4.6 rebounds. 3.4 assists and 2.2 steals per game.

Also recognized by the conference, with selection to the Weekly Honor Roll, was junior forward Jen Gemma (Milton/Fontbonne Academy). At New Haven, the NE-10 scoring leader posted her fifth straight double-double as she finished with 19 points, 15 rebounds and three blocks.  She also moved from 26th to 21st on Bentley's all-time scoring list with her total now 1,145 points.

Bentley is back at home Wednesday for a 5:30 encounter with Adelphi University.
