WALTHAM, Mass. – Eight days after rallying from 16 down for a 77-71 win at St. Michael's College, the Bentley University women's basketball team will be back on the road Sunday afternoon for a 1:30 pm encounter at LIU Post.  A link to the webcast will be available at www.bentleyfalcons.com.

The win at St. Michael's pushed the Falcons to 8-2 on the season and was the team's second straight. LIU Post, an NCAA tournament participant annually from 2011-14 and a 17-game winner a year ago, has had trouble getting untracked this season, bringing a 1-8 record into Sunday's contest.

Bentley coach Barbara Stevens, fifth all-time with 936 wins, has been able to keep her starting five intact throughout the first ten games with junior preseason All-America forward Jen Gemma (Milton/ Fontbonne Academy) joined by senior co-captain Jane White (Amherst, N.H./Souhegan HS), sophomore Lauren Green (Damascus, Md./Damascus HS) and a pair of freshmen who have earned Northeast-10 Rookie of the Week honors , Megan Lewis (Sevenoaks, England) and Victoria Lux (Arundel, Maine/Thornton Academy).

Gemma, the newest member of Bentley's 1,000-point club, led the NE-10 scoring last year and I making a bid to do the same this season. The six-footer is at the top of the conference scoring list at 20.1 points, and is also averaging 10.6 rebounds, including four a game at the offensive end. Away from Waltham, she's put up four double-doubles in five games.

Green, among the highest ranked three-point shooters in Division II (22-43, .512), has raised her season production to 11.2 points after scoring 18 or more twice in her last three games. Her scoring average is identical to her rookie season but she's boosted her number of threes from 1.6 to 2.2 a game.

The 6-foot-1 Lux is coming off her best week as a collegian, one that earned her Rookie of the Week recognition in the conference. She had a career-high 12 points against Saint Anselm and better that with her first double-double at St. Michael's, finishing with 16 points and 11 boards.

White and Lewis lead Bentley in assists and steals with Lewis also third in rebounds at 4.6. White has 30 assists, 11 steals and an assist-turnover ratio of nearly 2-1, and Lewis has come up with 16 steals to go along with 27 helpers.

While Stevens has been able to go with just one lineup so far this season, LIU Post's Deidre Moore hasn't been that fortunate.  She has started 12 different players with 6-foot-2 senior Nyasia Davis having made a team-high seven starts in nine game.

Davis leads the Pioneers In both scoring and rebounding, averaging 9.4 points, 7.3 boards and 1.2 steals. Junior forward Janaysia James follows in both categories, at 8.2 points and 6.1 rebounds.

LIU Post has averaged only 54.1 points on 35 percent shooting, and has had troubles at the line (.550 free throw percentage) and with turnovers, making 22.3 a game while forcing only 17.1.

After returning from Long Island, only one game remains in 2015 for the Falcons, who were fourth in this week's Division II East Regional rankings.  On Dec. 30, Bentley will be back in the Dana Center to take on the University of Bridgeport.
