Lux Selected as Northeast-10 Spalding Rookie of the Week

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University freshman center/forward Victoria Lux (Arundel, Maine/ Thornton Academy) has been selected as the Spalding Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week after her most productive week as a collegian.

During a 2-0 week, Lux recorded her first career double-double (16 points, 11 rebounds at St. Michael's in a 77-71 win) and averaged 14 points and 7.5 rebounds with a .750 field goal percentage. Before establishing new career-highs in points and rebounds against the Purple Knights, she had 12 points, her first career game in double figures, and seven rebounds against Saint Anselm in a 60-46 victory.

Lux is third on the team in scoring (6.3) and second in rebounding (6.5) for the 8-2 Falcons, who are two years removed from winning the 2014 NCAA Division II national championship.  She has started all ten and has a .500 field goal percentage.

Lux is the second Falcon this season to receive Rookie of the Week honors, following Megan Lewis (Nov. 16).

Also recognized by the NE-10 this week with selection to the Weekly Honor Roll was junior forward Jen Gemma (Milton/Fontbonne Academy). The six-footer and NE-10 scoring leader averaged 19.5 points, 11 rebounds, two blocks and an assist. She had 19 points, seven rebounds and two blocks against Saint Anselm and bettered those with 21 points, 15 rebounds and two rejections at St. Michael's when the Falcons overcame a 16-point second-quarter deficit.

Bentley returns to action Sunday with a 1:30 pm game at LIU Post.
