2014 National Champions to be Honored Twice in Coming Days

WALTHAM, Mass. – Nearly a year removed from completing a perfect 35-0 season with an amazing late-game rally against West Texas A&M, Bentley University's 2013-14 NCAA Division II national champion women's basketball team will be honored twice during the coming days.

On Saturday night, coach Barbara Stevens' team will be recognized at halftime of the UConn-St. Francis (N.Y.) first-round NCAA Division I tournament game at the Gampel Pavilion at Storrs, Conn. Tip-off for the second game of a doubleheader is scheduled for 9 pm.

Next Friday, March 27, the Falcons will be recognized with a plaque from U.S. Congresswoman Katherine Clark during a 10:30 am on-campus presentation in the Dana Center's Carleton Room. Rep. Clark serves the 5th District of Massachusetts, which includes Waltham.

Last year's team became only the second women's basketball team in NCAA Division II history to capture the national championship with an unblemished record, joining the 1995 North Dakota State Bison, and the first to cap an undefeated season on a neutral court.
