Battista Named to Daktronics Div. II All-America Team

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University junior forward Lauren Battista (North Easton/Oliver Ames HS) has been named to the 2013 Daktronics NCAA Division II Women's Basketball All-America third team by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

It's the fourth All-America award of her career as Battista received the honor from the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (first team), Daktronics (first team) and Women's Division II Bulletin a year ago.  She's also a two-time Capital One NCAA Division II Academic All-America selection, earning first-team accolades this season.

Battista led the 2012-13 Falcons in scoring (14.9 ppg), field goal percentage (.527) and free throw shooting (.821) and was second in both rebounds (6.7) and steals (43). The only East Region player to average in doubles and shoot at least 50 percent from the field and 80 percent from the line, she boosted her production in the postseason, giving the Falcons 17.8 points a game while connecting at a 59 percent clip.

Battista finished her junior season with 1,504 points, good for tenth on Bentley's all-time list and the most ever by a Falcon prior to her senior year. In program history, she also ranks third in scoring average, fifth in free throw percentage, seventh in field goal percentage and minutes per game, eighth in field goals, and ninth in free throws and defensive rebounds.

Bentley, which entered the NCAA tournament ranked third in Division II, finished the season at 30-2 after being derailed by Dowling College in the regional championship game.
