WALTHAM — The Bentley University women's basketball team's trip to the Elite Eight last year was a new experience for a lot of players new to college basketball.
That trip proved a short one as the Falcons ran into the eventual national champion on the opening night and were turned away with an 84-61 defeat in St. Joseph's Mo.
A year later, it's a new destination – San Antonio – but a familiar cast for the Falcons as they returned 11 of their top 12 rotation players – including four members of this year's starting lineup in junior Courtney Finn and sophomores Lauren Battista, Jacqui Brugliera and Christiana Bakolas, who were first-year college players on last year's team – for a second straight run to the Elite Eight.
The squad will bring with it the experience gained from last year's performance, as well as a nagging regret from the early exit the Falcons say has fueled them the past 12 months.
