After Successful Friday, Bentley Falcons Look to Continue Run Saturday in NCAA Championship Action & Atlantic Hockey Playoffs

WALTHAM, Mass. – In venues from the Dana Center to Rochester, N.Y. to Mankato, Minn., Bentley University teams and athletes will be in action Saturday, competing in NCAA Championships and the Atlantic Hockey Playoffs.

At the Dana Center, the fifth-ranked women's basketball team will be taking on Franklin Pierce at 7:30 pm with a berth in Monday's NCAA Division II East Regional final up for grabs. It'll be the fourth meeting of the season between the two squads, who have combined to win the last four regional championships (Bentley last year, FPU the previous three).  The Falcons are 3-0 against the Ravens this season, including a grueling double-overtime win earlier this month in the NE-10 playoff semis.

That will be the second game of a regional doubleheader.  In the opener, at 5 pm, second-seeded Southern Connecticut State will look to end sixth-seeded Holy Family's 12-game winning streak.

Hockey got off to a great start Friday night in the first of a best-of-three conference quarterfinal series at RIT, upending the third-seeded Tigers, 4-1.  Game two will be Saturday at 7:05 pm, with the Falcons looking to put away RIT and avoid an elimination game on Sunday. Junior Amy Varsell will be running in the finals of the 800 meters at 6 pm ET at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track Championships out in Mankato, Minn.  Fans can watch that race live, and follow live results, by clicking on the links at www.bentleyfalcons.com.  Last year, she finished fourth, and she had the fourth best qualifying time.

Two teams will be opening their season on Saturday on the road with men's lacrosse at C.W. Post at 2 pm. (live stats at www.bentleyfalcons.com) and women's softball down in Clermont, Fla. for a 5 pm encounter with the University of Bridgeport.
