NE10 Championship Gets Underway Tuesday with Falcons Visiting Saint Anselm

WALTHAM, Mass. – The Northeast 10 Softball Championship gets underway on Tuesday for Bentley when they visit Saint Anselm in a first round game.

The Falcons are the seventh seed in the tournament and travel to face the sixth seed Hawks in a single elimination game. First pitch is at 4:00 PM.

The winner will advance to play the third seed Pace on Thursday, May 4 as part of Championship Weekend, hosted by Adelphi.

Bentley and Saint Anselm played a doubleheader back on April 1 and the Falcons swept by scores of 9-1 and 7-4. Riley Piromalli and Payton Doiron each pitched complete games. At the plate, Jordan Krause and Kylee Amato both homered in the first game. In the second game, Sabrina Grizzaffi drove in three runs and Lauren Massry two.

After 42 regular season games, the Falcons went 20-22 overall and 12-10 in NE10 contests.

Krause led the squad in most offensive categories, including hits (42), home runs (5) and RBI (22). Her slash line of .328/.396/.531 was either best or second best in each category.

Grizzaffi, Amato and Katie Welch also knocked in double digit runs.

In the circle Piromalli and Doiron started 36 of the 42 games.

Piromalli went 11-11 with 15 complete games and three shutouts. She also notched four saves. Doiron went 8-7 with four complete games and struck out 72 in 99.1 innings.
