Falcons prepare for 2024 home finale Thursday

WALTHAM, Mass. – The Bentley softball team prepares for its final home games of 2024 when the Falcons welcome St. Rose to campus Thursday, April 25. The Northeast-10 doubleheader starts at 2:30 p.m. The regular season concludes with a doubleheader at American International Saturday, April 27, at 12 p.m. Bentley first takes on Bridgeport on the road for a non-conference game Wednesday, April 24.

 

The Grizz is bullish

Sabrina Grizzaffi had a three-hit game against Franklin Pierce last weekend (April 20). She followed that up with three more hits in a doubleheader against St. Michael's (April 21). Grizzaffi is hitting .383 since the start of April, and she is tied with Jordan Krause for the team lead in batting average (.330).

Among all NE10 hitters with at least 100-at bats this season, Jordan Krause's .536 slugging percentage ranks eighth. She has four home runs this spring, and her 11 doubles are the second-best total in the conference. Krause Bentley's all-time home run leader (15).

 

The motto

Kylee Amato had a couple of two-hit games this past weekend. She went 2-for-4 in a game against Franklin Pierce, and finished 2-for-4 again in a game against St. Michael's. Overall this season Amato has five multi-hit games.

 

Innings eater

Riley Piromalli's 126.1 innings pitched ranks second in the NE10. Among all conference pitchers with at least 90.IP, Piromalli's 2.66 ERA ranks fifth. She is the only NE10 pitcher with at least 50.0 IP who has not given up a home run this season.

 

Scouting St. Rose (19-15, 8-10 NE10)

The Golden Knights enter the week with three losses in their last four games. They split against Saint Anselm (April 20), and dropped two against Southern New Hampshire (April 21). Kelsey Higgins leads the team in home runs (9), RBI (30), batting average (.394), and OPS (1.264). Hannah Breen has a team-best 3.14 ERA through 55.2 innings. Adian Sheeren has pitched a team-high 79.1 innings and holds a 3.26 ERA.

 

Scouting AIC (9-21, 3-15 NE10)

The Yellowjackets are tied for last in the NE10 standings. The team's 6.16 ERA ranks last the conference, but AIC's .281 batting average is tied for third. Kodi Gora leads AIC in home runs (5) and RBI (21), while Brooklyn Cividanes leads the way in hitting with a .351 batting average. AIC is currently in the midst of a 12-game losing streak.
