Falcons come up short twice against Franklin Pierce

WALTHAM, Mass. – Seniors Kylee Amato and Sabrina Grizzaffi both put forth multi-hit efforts on Senior Day, but the Bentley softball lost both ends of a Northeast-10 doubleheader against Franklin Pierce Saturday. The Falcons fell in the first game, 7-4, and then dropped the second game, 6-0.

Amato went 2-for-4 with two RBI in the first game, while Grizzaffi finished the game 3-for-4 at the plate. The Falcons entered home half of the second inning in a 1-0 deficit, but they rallied for three runs in the inning.

Jacqueline Cupoli got things started with a one-out single up the middle, and Jess Morrison followed with an infield single. Amato stepped to the plate and belted an opposite-field double to score both runners. Bentley immediately added to the 2-1 lead when Gabriella hit a double to left field, scoring Amato from second base.

The Falcons increase their lead to 4-1 in the fourth inning. Longo reached base on a fielder's choice, and she came in to score on a double hit by Jordan Krause.

The Ravens forced extra innings by scoring two runs in the sixth and one more in the seventh. After a scoreless eighth inning, Franklin Pierce put up three runs in the ninth to win the game.

Before the start of Saturday's games, the Falcons celebrated their eight seniors and their loved ones: Amato, Cupoli, Payton Doiron, Morgan Fraitzl, Grizzaffi, Samantha Hess, Longo, and Lauren Massry.

Bentley is back home Sunday, April 21, to host St. Michael's for a doubleheader that starts at 12 p.m.
