Doiron, Piromalli stellar at Assumption

WORCESTER, Mass. – Riley Piromalli and Payton Doiron were once again both stellar in the circle, but the Bentley softball team lost both ends of a doubleheader at Assumption Tuesday. The final score for both games was 2-1.

Piromalli threw her 10th complete game of the season, striking out seven and yielding just one earned run on five hits. Doiron threw her third complete game of the season, allowing only two hits and one earned run.

Since April 1, Piromalli and Doiron have combined for a 2.52 ERA through 50 innings.

In the first game against the Greyhounds, Bentley entered the seventh inning in a 2-0 deficit. But Morgan Fraitzl kept the game alive with a two-out single, and Katie Welch moved the runner into scoring position by drawing a walk. Gabriella Longo delivered an RBI single from there, but it stood as the Falcons' only run.

In the second game, Bentley's lone run was scored in the first inning. Kylee Amato led off with a single, and she moved to second base on a groundout. Jordan Krause stepped to the plate and ripped an RBI double.

Bentley next plays at Adelphy Saturday, April 13, with a doubleheader that starts at 12 p.m.
