Bentley's weekend of NE10 home games begins Friday against New Haven

WALTHAM, Mass. – Following a dominant start to its Northeast-10 season, the Bentley softball team hosts New Haven for a conference doubleheader Friday, April 5, starting at 2 p.m. The games were originally scheduled for Saturday. The Falcons remain slated to host Southern Connecticut Sunday, April 7, for a doubleheader that starts at 12 p.m. Sunday is Bentley's Strikeout Cancer day. 

 

Falcons fly harder

Bentley began its NE10 season by sweeping a doubleheader at Saint Anselm Monday (April 1). The Falcons won the first game, 9-1, and then took the second game, 7-4.

 

Complete effort

Riley Piromalli and Payton Doiron both earned complete-game victories against the Hawks this week. Piromalli didn't allow an earned run in her seven-inning victory, and Doiron allowed just five hits in her first complete game of the season.

 

Power up

Kylee Amato hit her first-career home run at St. Anselm, and Jordan Krause clubbed the 12th home run of her career that same day.

Jordan Krause enters the weekend leading the Falcons in hitting (.377), slugging (.541), RBI (12), and doubles (7).

 

Making a name

Freshman Hailey Feiler is quickly establishing herself at the collegiate level. She leads the Falcons in on-base percentage (.464), and her .362 batting average ranks second on the team.

 

Scouting New Haven (2-18, 0-4 NE10)

The Chargers enter the weekend with 11 consecutive losses, including four combined NE10 losses against Saint Rose and American International. New Haven's .225 team batting average ranks last in the NE10, and it is the only conference team with a slugging percentage under .300 (.277). The team ERA – 5.40 – also ranks last in the NE10. Meg Anderson is the team's leading hitter, carrying a .327 batting average into the weekend. Brianna Trueman has a team-high 10 RBI.

 

Scouting Southern Connecticut (9-9, 3-1 NE10)

The Owls have won seven of their last eight games entering this weekend. They take on Bridgeport (April 4) and Assumption (April 6) before meeting the Falcons. Southern Connecticut's 2.42 ERA is the third-best in the NE10. The pitching staff is led by Jessica Perucki (55.1 IP), whose 0.38 ERA leads the conference. Rachel Miller is the team's leading hitter with a .390 batting average. She and Gabriella Festa lead the Owls in RBI with 11, apiece.
