Falcon softball to make home debut against Mercy

WALTHAM, Mass. – With five wins in its last six games, the Bentley softball team makes its 2024 home debut Sunday, March 24, when the Falcons host Mercy for a doubleheader that starts at 12 p.m.

 

Walking on sunshine

The Falcons posted a 7-3 record during their recent trip to Florida (March 10-15). The Bentley pitching staff held opponents to two or fewer runs on in seven of those 10 games. Six games were decided by no more than two runs, and the Falcons won four of those games.

 

Clean field

Bentley's .961 fielding percentage is the second-best mark in the Northeast-10. The Falcons have committed 17 errors in 437 total chances.

 

Rockin' rookie

Freshman Hailey Feiler enters the weekend with a team-best .382 batting average. She ranks 10th in the NE10 for hitting. Feiler has three multi-hit games this season, and her .500 on-base percentage makes her one of only six conference players with a .500+ OBP.

 

Ace up the sleeve

Riley Piromalli enters this weekend tied for the most appearances (11) and starts (9) among all NE10 pitchers. Her 2.23 ERA ranks fourth among NE10 pitchers with at least 40.0 IP.

 

Racking up hits

Jordan Krause has 17 hits so far this season, a total that is tied for seventh in the NE10. Last year, Krause finished the season tied for the conference lead in total hits (70). She has a team-high 11 RBI so far this spring.

 

Payton's place

Payton Doiron carries a 3.64 ERA into this weekend after a stellar showing in Florida. She allowed only four earned runs between her five outings for a 1.45 ERA.

 

Scouting Mercy (2-12)

The Mavericks enter this weekend with an eight-game losing streak, though some of those games have been close. During the streak, four games were decided by one or two runs. Julianna Coluccio leads the team in hitting (min 20 AB) with a .391 batting average, and she has a team-high .522 slugging percentage. Nicole Smart is hitting .343, and five her of 12 hits are doubles. Shannon Sisco leads the team with eight steals, and she has yet to be thrown out. Angelina Oquendo carries a team-best 3.86 ERA in 28.0 innings in the circle.
