Krause’s Walk-off Double Gives Bentley Sweep of Day Three in Florida

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – Jordan Krause delivered a walk-off double in the bottom of the eighth to give Bentley a 2-1 victory over Bloomfield. Earlier in the day the Falcons defeated Indiana (Pa.) 6-2.

Bentley broke the game open with three runs in the top of the 7th to defeat the Hawks in the first game of the day.

The Falcons loaded the bases with one out and with Gabriella Longo at the plate, a passed ball scored Krause from third for a 4-2 lead. The next batter Ava Lanza reached to score Jess Morrison from third, and the next batter Kylee Amato walked to score Sabrina Grizzaffi to give the Falcons a 6-2 lead.

Payton Doiron pitched five innings and struck out three to earn the win. Riley Piromalli came on in relief in the bottom of the sixth with a runner on and got the final six outs to finish the game. She struck out two batters in the bottom of the seventh.

The game was tied 1-1 after four innings, but the Falcons went ahead on an RBI double by Kim Saunders to score Ella Bunovsky from first for a 2-1 lead.

In the top of the sixth, Grizzaffi drove in Krause with a single to left to make it 3-1.

 

Bentley 2, Bloomfield 1 (8 innings)

The Falcons trailed 1-0 in the bottom of the eighth against Bloomfield. Amato began the inning on second and Bunovsky reached base to put two runners on. Hailey Feiler then reached on a fielder's choice to load the bases and bring Krause to the plate.

The junior outfielder delivered a double to left that scored Amato and Bunovsky to give the Falcons the win.

The first seven innings were a scoreless pitchers duel between Piromalli and Bloomfield's Rayn Romero.

Bloomfield finally scratched across a run in the top of the eighth on a one-out single by Alicia Serrano. But Piromalli got the next two outs.

Piromalli finished the game with seven strike outs and just three hits allowed in eight innings.
