Krause, Petow, Trahan & Mankins Combine for 17 Hits & 9 Runs as Bentley Sweeps Bloomfield, 5-1 & 10-1

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Sophomore left fielder Jordan Krause (San Pedro, Calif./San Pedro HS), senior center fielder Sam Petow (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury HS), senior first baseman Kaylee Mankins (North Attleboro, Mass./Bishop Feehan HS) and senior third baseman Jess Trahan (Merrimack, N.H./Merrimack HS) combined for 13 hits, nine runs scored and six RBI as Bentley University swept Bloomfield College, 5-1 and 10-1, in a non-conference softball doubleheader Sunday afternoon at the Myrtle Beach Sports Complex. The second game was mercy-ruled following five innings.

Krause was 5-for-7 on the day with five runs scored and two RBI as she elevated her weekend average to .619. Petow and Trahan each had two hits in each game and Mankins was four for six in the twinbill.

With the two wins, Bentley completed the six-game season-opening trip at 5-1 and riding a five-game winning streak.

Game one saw sophomore righty Dahlia Fink (Sherman Oaks, Calif./Notre Dame HS) win her third game of the weekend. Coming off a three-hit shutout of Mercy on Saturday, she scattered six hits and struck out three in a complete game effort.

The Bentley offense game Fink all the runs she would need in the opening inning when the Falcons scored twice. After loading the bases with no outs. Krause and Petow both scored on ground outs.

In the second, senior second baseman Katherine Noftall (Ipswich, Mass./Ipswich HS) made it 3-1 with an RBI single.

Krause, Petow, Trahan and Noftall each had two hits and both Mankins and Noftall had two RBI.

In the wrap to the weekend, Bentley scored three times in the first, second and fourth innings, along with a single run in the third.

The opening three-run inning included an RBI single by Petow, the first of two sacrifice flies in the game by junior designated player Morgan Fraitzl (Bedford, N.H./Bedford HS) and an RBI single by sophomore shortstop Katie Welch (Monroe, Conn./Masuk HS).

Bentley pounded out 16 hits with Krause 3-for-3 with three runs scored and two RBI from the leadoff spot. Junior right fielder Kylee Amato (Bergenfield, N.J./Acad. of the Holy Angels HS) and Mankins each matched Krause's three hits.

 Bentley's next games will come during a 10-game trip to Leesburg, Fla. March 12-17.
