Cain & Pereira Selected for the Academic All-Northeast-10 Softball Team

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University's Kaileen Cain (Hauppauge, N.Y./ Hauppauge HS) and Elise Pereira (Plainville/King Philip Reg. HS) have been voted to the 2022 Academic All-Northeast-10 Conference softball team as recognition of their success in the classroom and on the field.

Cain, a graduate student, was the only NE10 player to earn CoSIDA Academic All-America honors this season as she was tabbed for third team honors. The second-team All-Conference third baseman, broke Bentley's single season and career home run records. She hit eight this season, third most in the conference, and nine in 44 career games as a Falcon.

This season, the MBA student and Caldwell transfer hit .354 with 34 RBI, a .699 slugging percentage and an impressive 1.166 OPS. Including her time at Caldwell, she homered 19 times as a collegian.

Pereira led Bentley in innings for the third straight year and in strikeouts for the fourth consecutive season while becoming the fourth player in program history to strike out 100 in a season. She finished her career in the top five in Bentley history in wins (22), strikeouts (215) and starts (54).

As a senior this spring, Pereira was 11-6 with a save, a 2.60 ERA and 100 strikeouts during 25 appearances in the center circle. She authored a three-hit shutout against Stonehill and a five-hit shutout against Dominican.

Pereira, a Summa Cum Laude and an Honors Program participant who achieved a 3.94 grade point average, majored in mathematical science. Cain, a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-America, has earned a 3.77 GPA as a graduate student.
