Bentley Extends Streak to 7 with Sweep of Molloy, 10-3 and 1-0

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – Sophomore Payton Doiron (Beacon Falls, Conn./St. Joseph HS) and freshman Dahlia Fink (Sherman Oaks, Calif./Notre Dame HS) combined on a four-hit game two shutout to complete a doubleheader sweep of Molloy College and extend Bentley University's winning streak to seven in non-conference softball Friday at the Diamondplex.

Before the 1-0 victory in the nightcap, everyone in the lineup had at least one hit as Bentley took the opening game by a count of 10-3. The two wins boosted the Falcons to 10-6 and wrapped up a successful 8-2 trip to the Spring Games.

Freshman left fielder Jordan Krause (San Pedro, Calif./San Pedro HS) led off the opener with her fourth home run of the season, bringing her to within one of the single season school record.

A sacrifice fly by junior second baseman Katherine Noftall (Ipswich, Mass./Ipswich HS) broke a 1-1 tie in the fourth and Bentley made it 5-1 with three runs in the fifth. Both junior first baseman Kaylee Mankins (North Attleboro, Mass./North Attleboro HS) and graduate third baseman Kaileen Cain (Hauppauge, N.Y./ Hauppauge HS) had RBI singles in the inning with Cain's RBI her conference-leading 17th of the year.

Bentley added to its total with four in the sixth and one in the seventh. Senior catcher Ella Hillier (Tualatin, Ore./Tualatin HS) had a two-run triple and freshman Katie Welch (Monroe, Conn./Masuk HS) had an RBI in each inning.

Krause, Mankins and Cain both had two hits, and senior Elise Pereira (Plainville, Mass./King Philip Reg. HS) won her fifth game of the season, striking out six during her complete game effort.

Doiron pitched the first six innings of game two and Fink came on in the seventh to earn the save. Doiron struck out four and scattered three hits.

The only run of the game was scored in the third when junior center fielder Sam Petow (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury HS) hit a one-out home run to left center. It was the first of her career. She had two of the Falcons' three hits in the game.

Bentley is scheduled to host Le Moyne and Saint Rose in doubleheaders next weekend.
