Saint Anselm Uses Identical 8-0 Scores to Sweep Bentley

WALTHAM, Mass. – Senior right-hander Morgan Perry (Bethany, Conn.) pitched a three-hit shutout in the opener and classmate Courtney Fisher (Taunton, Mass.) followed with a one-hitter in game two as Saint Anselm College swept Bentley University, 8-0 and 8-0, in Northeast-10 Conference softball Monday afternoon on the Bentley softball field. Both games were halted following five innings.

Perry, 4-0, walked two and struck out ten in her five innings in the center circle. Fisher gave up an infield single to the first batter she faced, Falcon senior shortstop Lindsey Allen (Worcester, Mass./ Worcester Tech HS), and struck out seven. Each allowed one runner to reach third base.

Saint Anselm, the 16th-ranked team in Division II, did most of its offensive damage in game one in the third inning when it put up seven on the scoreboard. Sophomore second baseman Kylie Fitzpatrick (Danville, N.H.) had a two-run triple and senior left fielder Kat Stackrow (Wynantskill, N.Y.) also tripled in a run.

The Hawks (7-1, 4-0 NE10) totaled 15 hits with six starters having two each.

Game two saw the visitors strike for five in the fourth to go up 7-0. Stackrow had a two-run single and senior right fielder Shannon Colson (Rochester, N.H.) had a two-run triple.

Colson finished the game 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs scored and a double, in addition to the triple.

Allen had two of Bentley's four hits against the Hawks.

Bentley, 2-6 overall and NE10, will play a doubleheader at Stonehill on Wednesday.
