Seven Bentley Falcons Receive All-America Scholar-Athlete Recognition from NFCA

WALTHAM, Mass. – Seven members of last spring's Bentley University softball team, including three members of the Class of 2017, have earned All-America Scholar-Athlete honors from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association for the 2016-17 academic year.

The list of honorees includes recent graduates Kelsey Kennedy (Bedford, N.H./Bedford HS), Katelyn Lebreux (Biddeford, Maine/Biddeford HS) and Chelsea Vena (Matawan, N.J./Saint John Vianney HS).

Also recognized were Jordan Ballantyne (Hopewell Junction, N.Y./Arlington HS), Paige Hovsepian (Billerica/Waltham HS), Hannah King (Kennebunk, Maine/Kennebunk HS) and Rachel Rogers (Windham, N.H./Windham HS).

Ballantyne, a current senior, and Rogers, now a sophomore, will be members of the 2018 Bentley softball team.

The seven were saluted for achieving a grade point average of 3.50 or better during the past academic year.

Ballantyne and Lebreux were both recognized for the third time while Kennedy and Vena were second-time honorees.

Kennedy, previously recognized as All-Northeast-10 and All-East Region, led the Falcons in hitting (.385) and King, a grad student in 2017, was the workhorse of the pitching staff, appearing in 28 games with 16 starts. Vena was also an everyday player for the Falcons and Lebreux saw action in 97 games during her four years in a Falcon uniform.
