Kennedy Garners Multiple Postseason Honors

WALTHAM, Mass. – After recording the best batting average by a Falcon since 1995, Bentley University senior left fielder Kelsey Kennedy (Bedford, N.H./Bedford HS) has been selected by the conference coaches for the 2017 All-Notheast-10 softball second team.

This marked the second straight year in which Kennedy has been an All-Conference honoree, having achieved third-team status in 2016.

In addition, Kennedy was one of 11 student-athletes from the East Region selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) for the Division II Academic All-District™ team.

All will advance to the national ballot for CoSIDA Academic All-America® consideration.

Bentley's leading hitter for the second straight year, Kennedy finished the 2017 season with a .385 average, currently the sixth best in the conference. She hit safely in 16 of the team's final 18 games and had 11 multi-hit games, including four against Minnesota State-Moorhead.

Kennedy, who was also eighth in the conference in on base percentage (.425), also led the Falcons in runs scored (17), hits (42), doubles (5), total bases (49) and slugging percentage (.450). Her batting average climbed each year during her collegiate career, as did her on base percentage and hit total.

Kennedy finished her career with a .322 batting average, ninth best in program history. Her 23 doubles is tied for sixth all-time by a Falcon, her 34 extra base hits ranks eighth and she also owns the eighth best slugging percentage (.451).

In the classroom, the management major attained a 3.53 grade point average and made the President's List twice. Last year, she was recognized as an NFCA Scholar-Athlete for her academic achievements.
