Riabko Drives in 3 as Philadelphia Tops Bentley, 5-2

CLERMONT, Fla. -- Sophomore right fielder Samantha Riabko (Haddon Township, N.J.) slammed a bases-loaded triple in the fifth inning to power Philadelphia University to a 5-2 win over Bentley University in non-conference college softball Tuesday afternoon at the National Training Center.

The Rams, 2-3, broke a 1-1 tie with a single run in the fourth inning. Freshman shortstop Andrea Schell (Glen Gardner, N.J.) led off with a single to left, stole second, advanced to third on an error and scored on a fielder's choice.

After a single, an error and a walk loaded the bases in the fifth, Riabko broke it open with her three-bagger.

Bentley scored once in both the third and fifth innings. Sophomore center fielder Jackie Gauthier (Braintree, Mass./Braintree HS) singled to left and eventually scored on a passed ball for the first run. In the bottom of the fifth, a bases-loaded walk to freshman left fielder Shannon Connor (West Haven, Conn./West Haven HS) forced in junior shortstop Stephanie Kasson (Hyde Park, N.Y./Franklin D. Roosevelt HS), who had reached on an infield single.

Freshman Nicole Troisi (Norristown, Pa.) pitched a complete game six-hitter, with seven strikeouts, for the win.

Two of Bentley's six hits came off the bat of junior catcher Erica Thibodeau (Cohoes, N.Y./ Shaker HS), who lifted her average to.429.

Following a day off Wednesday, Bentley (1-3) will face Minot State and Millersville Thursday evening.
